(51:56) And
I Did Not Create The Jinn And Mankind Except
To Worship Me.
(3:159) So By
Mercy From Allah, [O Muhammad], You Were Lenient With Them. And If You Had Been
Rude [In Speech] And Harsh In Heart, They Would Have Disbanded From About You. So
Pardon Them And Ask Forgiveness For Them And Consult Them In The Matter. And When
You Have Decided, Then Rely Upon Allah. Indeed, Allah Loves Those Who Rely [Upon Him].
I am Khundmir Syed, resident of
Chicago, IL USA working for a manufacturing company in IT field Alhamdulilah. I
want to thank Mehdavia Times Welfare Trust and Idara e Gulshan e Mahdi(AHS) for
giving the opportunity to share my thoughts on “Life of a Mehdavi Professional
during Ramazan”.
A profession by definition is
engaging in a specified activity as ones main paid occupation, but what it really
mean in a life of a Mehdavi? As a Mehdavi, no doubt we can adopt a profession
(Kasab) as our Imam Mehdi-e-Mauood (AHS) has granted permission to his son
Bandagi Miyan Mahmood (RZ) at Peeran Patan upon his request. This
permission of Imamuna Mehdi-e-Mauood is a blessing for the Quam-e-Mehdavia and
in the tufail of Bandagi Miya Mahmood (RZ) we now know how to be a
Kasib and the rules associated with it.
This banda with his limited knowledge
is making an attempt to elaborate some of the rulings that a Mehdavi needs to
abide by all the time while working in their respective professions;
1) Remembrance of Allah (SWT)
all the time. “Harjake Ba Shad ba Yaad-e-Khuda
Ba Sheed” saying of Imamuna (AHS) Translation: Where ever you
live, be in remembrance of Allah(SWT) all the time. A true Mehdavi while doing
his Job and working in any profession whether it’s business or office work will
always be in remembrance of Allah (SWT) (Zikr of Allah)
2) One is obligated to do
Zikr atleast after Fajr until sunrise and after Asr until sunset, Pray all the
Farz Namaz with Jamat. A Mehdavi no matter how busy he is in his duty never
neglects the Farz prayers with jamat and the Zikr during this particular hours
(at least)
3) A Mehdavi always
thanks (Shukr) Allah (SWT) for any situation he gets into. At times
of making profits or loss, in good times and in bad times. His sole aqida is whatever
comes is from Allah (SWT). Now one might think because he is working
hard and because of his skills he is making huge money but a Mehdavi always
have Tawakul Allah and 100% believe that Allah is the one who grants
sustenance. Note that there are people who are working harder than you and are much
smarter with advanced skills than you but they are either with no work or
making less than what one is making.
4) Do give Zakat and Ushr all
the time. A Mehdavi always does his duty of paying Zakat and also Ushr as
prescribed by Huzoor (PBUH) and Imamuna (AHS). Helps
those in need all the time without feeling proud about anything.
5) A Mehdavi is always
Sincere in his dealings and earnings. Earns through halal means, always says
haq and never cheats or lies. A Mehdavi sets an example of someone who anyone
can depend on when it comes to trust and is a true follower of Shariat-e-Mohmmadi
(PBUH).
6) A Mehdavi thinks of once
profession as temporary means and always ready to give it away (Tarak e Duniya)
when time comes and he is ready. Note, as said by Imamuna (AHS) a
Tarak after doing job and making money is better than one who has done Tarak without
any earnings. Which means leaving everything after tasting the world and luxury
life is Afzal compared to poor person.
If one can’t follow any of the above rulings,
then he/she should seriously think and ponder as to whether he/she is still on Track
or his profession is coming in between Allah (SWT) and himself. As
stated by Imamuna (AHS) if any job or work is leading you to ghaflat
and coming in between Allah and you then it’s haram and not allowed. Again if
you see the Seerat of Bandagi Miya Mahmood (RZ) he quit his position
in Gujrat by saying he can’t work for the sultan by disappointing the King of
the Kayanath i.e Allah (SWT) while he was disturbed while doing Zikr
of Allah and was called by the Sultan of Gujrat. This is an example for us on
how strictly you need to follow the rules while doing a job. There are numerous
examples we will find when looking into the Seerah of Huzoor (PBUH)
and Sahabah (RZ) as well as a guide for us. In particular, when
Huzoor (PBUH) as a business man on a business trip deals with the
extra profit he acquired during his trip and still shared that with Bibi
Khadijah (RZA) as per the prior agreement which proved he was
trustworthy person and resulted in his marriage with bibi Khadija (RZA).
A muslim person doesn’t do Khayanath in his profession and is always trustworthy
and sticks to the agreement.
Whether one is a Doctor, Engineer,
Accountant, Businessman or House maker etc. He / she is always following
shariath principles and does his duty of representing himself in front of the
world as a person who is dependable and serves his community / locality.
Especially during the month of Ramadan he gets more engaged at his work place
and in helping the community. Ramazan is a testing time for a person who is working
in his field. As he is fasting, standing late at nights doing ibadah
he is deprived of food and sleep but at the same time a Mehdavi is patient, he
is even more calm and gives up lying, back biting and wasting time on social
media, internet, phones, TV and unnecessary talking. If possible one should
take time off from work so, he can focus on his Ibadah during the sacred month
of Ramadan in particular for Lailat-ul-Qadr. He / She should give more charity
in the month of Ramadan.
I want to circle back on the initial
Ayats I started my essay with (51:56) related to the purpose of creation of
mankind by Allah (SWT) which is truly for just worshipping him and
getting to know him (his Deedar) and while doing this he is completely relying
on Allah (SWT) and laying his Tawakkul for his sustenance (3:159). As per a hadees of Huzoor (PBUH)
food will look for you same as how death does. Life is short no one knows when
we will leave the world. If a person is told by the doctor that he is going
to die in a week do you think, he will carry on with his routines? I don’t
think so, he / she will be busy in meditations and preparing for his departure.
Same is true with everyone as death is a fact that no one can deny and don’t
know when it will reach us. Everyone needs to be ready and not get indulge too
much in his profession etc.
In conclusion a true Profession of a Mehdavi is “Seeking Allah”
in this world and that should be always the goal of our living and the work we
are doing as Doctors, Engineers, Business man etc.. are only temporary and we
leave this profession and ultimately get ready to join our true profession when
time comes as dictated by Allah (SWT) which is seeking Allah’s
pleasure and nothing else.
Please forgive me if I miss-stated
anything wrong or hurt anyone. Mera bola chala maaf karo wast-e-Allah ke. I
once again thank Mehdavia Times Welfare Trust and Idara e Gulshan e Mahdi (AHS)
for providing a platform for people to educate on the teachings of Mehdaviat
and doing great service for the Quam.
May Allah keep us all with imaan and keep
us safe by the sadqa of Huzoor (PBUH) and Imamuna Mehdi (AHS).
Ameen
