My visit to 'Mehdavia Jama Masjid' Pallakkad, Kerala

As Salam alaikum Rahmathulahi Wa Barakatahu.

Today once again I had an opportunity to visit the only Mehdavia Masjid in Kerala. Earlier this Masjid was Known as 'Mehdavia Jama Masjid' which is situated at the Daira Street of Pallakad in Kerala. This was the only Mehdavia Masjid in Kerala and was also popularly known as 'Urdu Jamia Masjid' where the Jumma Bayan was done in Urdu in the entire Kerala State. During my last visit to this masjid some six years ago, I had a very nostalgic & spiritual experience while I went there and offered my Isha. I could also see the name written on the walls as 'Mehdavia Urdu Jama Masjid'.

But now this masjid is being rebuilt to suit to the present requirements, though nicely planned and constructed however, I couldn't locate the name that I saw six years back. Now unfortunately, it is known as "Hanafi Urdu Jama Masjid', you may search it in Google.

Almost all the families have gone out of our core aqaid, and have employed a Non Mehdavi imam.

As I couldn't go to ziyarat last time I made it a point to visit this time, met one of the mussalli who still looks like a Mehdavi to show me the Payan. He sent the mouzin (a Hafiz-e-Quran from Bihar) with me to show the Payan. Unfortunately the Payan is in a very bad condition and looks dilapidated with lots of bushes all around the compound. Thankfully it is protected with a very strong stone wall (it seems the compound was built at least a century back).

The historical significance of this Daira is that, During the period of Nawab Hyder Ali ( 1720 – 7 Dec 1782)  Tippu Sultan (20 Nov1750 - 4 May 1799) the Sultans of Mysore, during their reign, had sent a troop to this region for a war. The troop was predominantly Mehdavi Soldiers, along with them Murshideen too accompanied. There is a fort by name Palakkad Fort which was recaptured and rebuilt grandly by Sultan Hyder Ali in 1766 by the same troops. The troop got settled in Pallakad and established a Mehdavia Daira here. This area is still known as Daira Mohalla or Daira Street.

I pray and hope that Almighty Allah swt restore the faith soon with Mehdavia aqaid to all those who have gone out.

BASE organised a Mega Free Eye Check-up Camp in Kirgaval, Mandya District

Kirgaval, 8 December 2019:  A free eye check-up camp was organized for people of all religions by a group of friends under the banner of BASE [Bureau for Awareness & Socio-Economic Empowerment] in Kirgaval, Mandya District. The Camp was organised with the help of experts from Dr. Solanki Eye Hospital, Bangalore.  About 325 people were examined and 200+ reading glasses / Free lenses and spectacles were distributed free of cost to the needy patients while 36 patients were referred for eye surgery. The Camp started at 9:00 a.m and went up to 3:30 pm at a Function Hall in Kirgaval.  The Anjuman-e-Mehdavia, Kirgaval extended its support to BASE being the host Organisation to conduct the Free Eye Check-up Camp smoothly by arranging local logistics support, venue and inviting beneficiaries to the camp. 

About 16 patients came forward to undergo the free surgery and they were taken to Vijaya Nethralaya, Bangalore on the same evening (8th Dec 2019). The operations were performed on the early morning of Monday, 9th December 2019. BASE team ensured their presence throughout the process and they were taken back with utmost care back to Kirgaval to drop them at their homes on the same day. A medical practitioner was also taken along so as to give instructions to the family members on precautions to be taken while on medication which needs to be followed for the next 4 weeks, as all of them were senior citizens. All the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and blessed the BASE team with their prayers, while returning home. A post operation follow-up program will be done for the on Friday, 13th Dec 2019 at the same venue.

Community Interactive Seminar: 

After completing the Eye Camp on Sunday, 8th December 2019, an interactive seminar was also arranged at the same venue at 4:00 pm. The program was initiated with Qirat by Qaari Syed Shahabul Haq, and recitation of Naat-e-Rasool sas Janab Syed Zahoor Mehdi Saheb. 

Janab Zikriya Khan Saheb, Ex – Zilla Panchayath President welcomed the gathering and also thanked BASE for conducting the free eye check-up camp with which the residents of Kirgaval and neighboring vilages got benefitted.

Janab Inayath Ulla Khan Saheb, delivered opening remarks reflecting on a verse from Holy Quran - which is also a prayer to be recited for good eye-sight.

لَقَدْ كُنْتَ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مِنْ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ الْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ 

 [“You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover, so your sight, this Day, is sharp.” 50:22] 

Further, he welcomed all on behalf of BASE and felicitated dignitaries with shawls & garlands viz: Janab Syed Azmat Saheb, Janab Syed Mahmood Saheb – President of Anjuman-e-Mehdavia, Kirgaval, Janab Syed Saifulla Saheb – Secretary of Anjuman-e-Mehdavia, Kirgaval, Janab Zikriya Khan Saheb – Ex Zilla Panchayath President, Janab Dr. Taj Mohammed Saheb, Janab Syed Baqar Saheb – Program in charge of the Eye Camp, Qaari Syed Shahabul Haq Saheb and Janab Syed Zahoor Mehdi Saheb.

Janab Shah Nizam Foujdar Saheb, addressed the gathering and enlightened on how can we achieve success by getting united. He stressed on encouraging children to pursue education which is a key to make the community successful. He opined that time has come for us to start an Institution of our own and nurture it to make it a deemed university in next 20 years, and we have to give importance towards education and health. He invited all to join hands in achieving this target with their prayers

Janab Syed Mahmood Saheb – President of Anjuman-e-Mehdavia, Kirgaval addressed the gathering and extended his blessings to all with his well wishes and motivation to the BASE to carry on the good work.

Chief Guest of the program Janab Mohammed Sajjad Khan Saheb, ACP – Vidhana Soudha, Bangalore addressed the gathering and congratulated BASE for taking up the noble initiative in a rural place like Kirgaval. He sought the prayers of all the elders to bless the members of BASE so that they can do more such programs in different localities of our community. He stressed upon getting united and be known to each other, find a way to identify the pain points of our community and address them in an organised manner. He suggested conducting regular surveys to get a database of our community which will help us identify the issues and challenges faced by our people and also will be helpful in finding solutions and giving directions to the needy. 

Janab Syed Suhail Nizami Saheb compered & concluded the seminar and thanked all the Office Bearers of both BASE & Anjuman-e-Mehdavia Kirgaval, all the volunteers, participants, doctors and specially thanked the Anjuman-e-Mehdavia, Kirgaval for whole heartedly extending their support and hospitality for conducting this program.

Azeem o Shaan Jalsa-e-Meelad-un-Nabi sas -O-Iftetah-e-Mehdavia Isaqia Farha Jamia Masjid, Bannur - Myseoresaqia Farha Jamia Masjid

Bannur 01 Dec 2019: We are happy to inform you that, Alhamdulillah a Mehdavia Masjid got inaugurated in SRP Road, Bannur, Mysore District of Karnataka. The Masjid was built by Farah Committee Emarat (FCE) which a group of Mehdavi Brothers of Indian Origin who are presently working in UAE.

The inauguration was done with Namaz-e-Zuhr followed by Azeem-o-Shaan Jalsa-e-Meelad-un-Nabi SAS and Jalsa-e-Iftetah-e-Mehdavia Isaqia Farha Jamia Masjid at the  Mehdavia Isaqia Farha Jamia Masjid premises on 1st December 2019.

The Jalsa was presided over by Hz. Peer-o-Murshid Meeranji Abid Khundmiri Saheb. Hz.Mashayaq Alhaj Qari Maulana Maulvi Syed Raj Mohammed Tashrifullahi Saheb recited Quran. Janab Syed Asadullah Saheb recited Naat-e-Rasool SAS, Janab Syed Jafar Saheb Ibrahimi welcomed the gathering.

Chief Guest Hz. Mashayaq Alhaj Afzal-ul-Ulama Syed Sarfaraz Miyan Tashrifullahi Saheb Hyderabad, Hz. Mashayaq Alhaj Maulana Maulvi Syed Waliullah  Ibrahimi Saheb - Muhtameed-e-Ijma-e-Groh-e-Murshideen-e-Mehdavia, Chanpatan, Hz. Janab Syed Noor-ul-Huda Mujtehdi ahle-Hyderabad Muqeem UAE Founder member FCE and Janab Syed Abdul Azeez Ahsan Yadullahi Saheb Ex-Ameer-e-Jamat of FCE were also present during the Ijlas and represented the Farah Committee Emarat.

The program got concluded with Namaz-e-Asar followed by Zikrullah and then with Namaz-e-Mughrib. Dinner was served for all the guest post Namaz-e-Mughrib.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

AL HAMDU LILLAHI RABBIL AALAMEEN

Dear Brothers and Sisters
The Word of Allah, Qur'an States "The Mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and practice regular charity, and fear none(at all) except Allah. It is they who are expected to be on true guidance" (Surah At-Taubah 9:18).
The above Quranic saying signifies the importance of a Masjid (the house of Allah) regarding those pious and true believers who build, practice and maintain the mosques in the same way as they fear none but Allah. It means any participation in building a mosque leads to great rewards. Subhan Allah. In view of this, we are glad to share the good news about the completion of a new Mehdavia Masjid at Bannur.

Dear readers, we know that Bannur is the town of Mysore District  (Karnataka State), 25 km from Mysore, 25 km from Kirgaval and 60km from Channapatna. We also, know that there is a considerable population of the Mehdavia community resides in Bannur taluk. Unfortunately, there were certain incidents in the past to disturb the Mehdavia dynamics of Bannur and its Daira community. Currently, there are two big Masjids belonging to the Mehdavia community, properly-being maintained and under the control of Murshideen of Bannur and Anjuman-e-Mehdavia, Bannur.

Dear Brothers and Sisters - Due to an increase in population, we have seen a lot of Mehdavis residing in the old Daira moving to new areas of Bannur. As a result, the new colony has emerged on SRP Road, approximately one km away from old Daira, where the majority is the Mehdavia community. It becomes a religious obligation to safeguard our faith and creed. In order to secure the Mahdavi brethren from any external influence, a Masjid and presence of Murshid were necessary to counter any challenges. This was locally felt by Peer-o-Murshid, Qibla Syed Asghar Miyan Sahib Ishaqhi, who approached Farah Committee Emarat(FCE) by offering his own site(land) available in the same area. Murshid's plan was to build a Masjid and run under his Imamat and Irshadi. This proposal and plan were discussed and Farah Committee Emarat agreed to be a part of this prestigious project. Al Hamdu Lillah, FCE facilitated the required funds to complete the construction of Masjid (FI Sabi Lillah). Today a very beautiful structure of Masjid is ready to offer Salah. The Last Messenger of Allah, Prophet Mohammed (SAS) said ' Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise' (Jannat). (Sahih al-Bukhari: 439).

We feel proud and happy to host an event to inaugurate this beautiful house of Allah for Salah, Zikr and Dars-o-Tadrees. We pray this becomes a center of Ibadaat-e-Ilahi. This Auspicious arrangement has been arranged on 1st December 2019 for the opening of Masjid by Hazrat Peer o Murshid Allama Syed Meeranji Abid Khundmiri sahib Qibla. Jalsa-e-Iftitah has been arranged and Murshideen-e-Kiraam from Hyderabad, Channapatna, Kirgaval, Tamil Nadu and Bannur will witness and address this occasion.
